Jean Valjean stole a loaf of bread for his nephews and nieces, so he was caught by Javert. Release from prison, he was enlightened by a kind-hearted bishop and totally reformed. Valjean became a mayor and he met a woman with very short hair and two missing front teeth. Her name was Fantine. She had a daughter called Cosette. In order to support Cosette,  she  worked  around  the  clock  and  did  whatever  she  could.

Eventually, she was badly ill;however, the kind man promised her to take

care of Cosette as his own daughter. Ten years later, the girl fell in love with a young man—Marius, but they had to separate due to the brutal revolution. Valjean determined to prevent Marius from being killed in order not to let Cosette so upset. Fortunately, owing to Valjean’s protection, Marius luckily survived in a destructive war and recovered well. Marius and Cosette tied the knot, they had a luxurious wedding and loved each other for life. Later, Jean Valjean passed away with a peaceful smile on his face after Marius knew he was the man who saved his life during the war, but it was too late to repay.

I really like the role Valjean. He assisted several poor people because

he knew how miserable the poor could be. Not only did he help Fantine get rid of the dirty environment, but he also looked after Cosette carefully. Valjean took part in the revolution even if he might be attacked and die any time. He was never afraid and saved Marius’s life. His kindness let him pass away without any suffering or regrets.
